Honest Pricing...

What does "Honest Pricing" mean?

Yes, our sammies and paninis run up to $15 bucks.

We firmly believe that workers should not have to rely on the "kindness of strangers" (i.e. tips) for fair wages. It is our responsibility to take good care of the employees who make this all possible. Honest pricing means your visit allows us to pay honest wages to our amazing staff! THAN

Also, we source the freshest local ingredients possible, supporting farmers here at home. It's far pricier to get farm eggs from Susan, sausage from Ben & Hana, & veggies from Mark, rather than from a mega-grower thousands of miles away. This is how we live out our commitments to you, our customer, and also to our neighbors.

When you support Fairfax Coffee House, you are supporting Berkeley Springs, WV. Thank you!!

What's up with the jellyfish?

A little serious and a little whimsical, the iridescent jellyfish is Mama Trey's "spirit animal". Just ask her. She's fascinated and inspired by creatures that create light within their bodies and illuminate the deepest, darkest part of the Earth. We know that you can too. And, in our small way, we hope we bring a little light into your world.

Our building was built in 1915. Sorry we only have one restroom, but we consider ourselves lucky to have indoor plumbing at all, given the age of the space. Yes, the tin ceiling panels are original.

Chuck Wheeler originated the Fairfax Coffee House here in 1993 or '94 (he thinks). After 18 years of running the coffee house, he "retired".

The credit for Trey & Paul jumping into the coffee house business goes to Leighton, who, when visiting her mom one weekend in May 2017, kept pestering Trey to "just call the realtor."

We opened for business on July 18, 2017, just six rather intense weeks after that first phone call.
